Hillary Clinton Aide Paul Combetta May Have Used Reddit for Tech Help to Delete Emails

Reddit is a hugely popular mostly user-run community bulletin board. A user with the screen name “stonetear” asked others for technical advice in a post.

I may be facing a very interesting situation where I need to strip out a VIP’s (VERY VIP) email address from a bunch of archived email that I have both in a live Exchange mailbox, as well as a PST file. Basically, they don’t want the VIP’s email address exposed to anyone, and want to be able to either strip out or replace the email address in the to/from fields in all of the emails we want to send out.

I am not sure if something like this is possible with PowerShell, or exporting all of the emails to MSG and doing find/replaces with a batch processing program of some sort.

Does anyone have experience with something like this, and/or suggestions on how this might be accomplished?

The post appears to have been made in July of 2014 just as the email controversy was heating up.

Since the account http://reddit/user/stonetear was discovered, all of the history has been deleted. The account was seven years old, with relatively low “karma” (aka point activity) accumulated. Post history for Stonetear was archived here.

The name “stonetear” is known to be used by “specialist” Paul Combetta on other accounts: archive from ETSY, archive from Dark Seduction website.

According to anonymous sources, Paul Combetta is the person who deleted the emails in question — believed to be Stonetear himself. Paul Combetta was granted limited immunity in the email investigation. He later refused to answer questions in the House.
